ABOUT US

See Orangutans in Their Natural Habitat

Bukit Lawang is a small riverside village beside Gunung Leuser National Park, one of the three national parks that form UNESCO’s Tropical Rainforest Heritage of Sumatra.

A Sumatra orangutan tour gives you the chance to walk through the rainforest while looking for orangutans, gibbons, monkeys, hornbills, and other wildlife. Sightings cannot be guaranteed because the animals move freely in their natural habitat.

Routes range from a few hours to several days, so you can choose an experience that fits your schedule and fitness level. Every trip is led by a local guide who shares knowledge about the forest, wildlife, and ecosystem.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which jungle trekking package should I choose?

Choose the 3 hour trek if you have limited time. The 1 day trek offers a longer forest visit, while the multi day packages are suitable for travelers who want jungle camping and more time on the trail.

Is seeing an orangutan guaranteed?

No. Orangutans and other animals move freely inside the national park, so sightings cannot be guaranteed. Your guide will look for signs of wildlife while maintaining a safe and respectful distance.

How do I book a Bukit Lawang jungle trek?

Choose a package and complete the booking form with your preferred date and group details. You can then continue to WhatsApp, where the team will check availability before sending the payment and confirmation details.

How do I get from Medan to Bukit Lawang?

You can travel from Medan or Kualanamu International Airport by private or shared transport. A private journey usually takes around three to four hours, depending on traffic, weather, and your pickup location.

Is jungle trekking suitable for children or beginners?

Some shorter routes may suit children and first time trekkers, depending on age, fitness, weather, and trail conditions. Contact the team before booking so they can recommend a suitable route.

Is the orangutan trekking ethical?

Our trekking rules do not allow feeding, touching, chasing, calling, or blocking wildlife. Guests must keep a respectful distance and follow the guide’s instructions.

Can I book a private orangutan tour?

Private trekking may be arranged depending on the selected package, group size, guide availability, and travel date. Send your trip details to check the available options.
