3 Days / 2 Nights Jungle Trek

The trekking usually starts in the morning and finishes on the third day around midday after the river tubing activity back to Bukit Lawang village.

Trekking Itinerary

Day 1 – Jungle Trekking Adventure

08:30 AM – Pick Up

Our guide will pick you up from your hotel or guesthouse in Bukit Lawang village.

08:50 AM – Briefing

We will meet at the Bukit Lawang Orangutan Tour meeting point for a short briefing about the trekking program and safety guidelines inside Gunung Leuser National Park.

09:00 AM – Start the Jungle Trek

After the briefing we begin our trekking adventure into the rainforest.

During the trek we will search for wild Sumatran orangutans and other wildlife while walking through beautiful jungle trails.

Our guide will explain about the rainforest ecosystem, wildlife behavior, and jungle plants used as traditional medicine.

Around midday we stop for a break while enjoying fresh tropical fruits prepared by our guide.

After lunch the trek continues deeper into the rainforest until we reach our first jungle campsite beside the river.

In the evening our guide prepares a delicious traditional jungle dinner.

Day 2 – Explore Deeper into the Rainforest

Wake up to the sounds of the jungle and enjoy breakfast prepared by our guide.

Today we continue trekking deeper into the rainforest where the jungle becomes more natural and less visited by tourists.

This part of the trek gives a great opportunity to see more wildlife such as monkeys, birds, and sometimes gibbons.

During the trek the guide will also show you interesting jungle plants and explain how local people use them for food and medicine.

Around midday we stop for lunch and fresh fruits before continuing our trek through the rainforest.

In the afternoon we arrive at our second jungle campsite where you can relax, swim in the river, or simply enjoy the peaceful jungle atmosphere.

Dinner will be prepared by our guide and we spend our second night camping in the jungle.

Day 3 – Jungle Walk & River Tubing

After breakfast we continue a short morning trek through the rainforest where there is another chance to spot wildlife.

Late in the morning we return to the riverside where the guides prepare the exciting river tubing adventure.

Using large rubber tubes tied together, we float down the Bahorok River while enjoying the beautiful scenery of the rainforest.

This is one of the most enjoyable moments of the jungle trekking experience.

The river tubing finishes back in Bukit Lawang village, usually around 12:00 – 01:00 PM, near your accommodation.
