Explore the tropical rainforest of Gunung Leuser National Park on a short 3 hour jungle trek from Bukit Lawang. This guided experience is designed for travellers who have limited time but still want to walk inside the rainforest, learn about the local ecosystem, and look for Sumatran orangutans and other wildlife.
The 3 Hour Jungle Trek is our shortest trekking option and does not include overnight camping. Orangutans and other animals move freely through their natural habitat, so wildlife sightings are possible but can never be guaranteed.
3 Hour Jungle Trek Overview
The 3 Hour Jungle Trek Bukit Lawang is a short introduction to the rainforest of Gunung Leuser National Park with an experienced local guide.
During the trek, you will follow tropical rainforest trails while your guide looks for signs of orangutans, monkeys, birds, and other wildlife. Along the way, you will also learn about animal behaviour, rainforest ecology, and some of the tropical plants traditionally known and used by local communities.
