🌿 About Me – A Life Shaped by the Rainforest

My name is Alwansyah and the Founder of this company, and my journey as a bukit lawang jungle guide did not begin with tourism.
It began with my father.

My father has been a jungle guide in Bukit Lawang for more than 35 years, guiding travellers through the rainforest of Gunung Leuser National Park long before Bukit Lawang became known to the world.

As a child, I followed his footsteps into the jungle. While other children played elsewhere, I learned the forest by walking beside him — listening, observing, and understanding how to move with respect inside the rainforest.

• The jungle became my classroom.
• The river became my playground.
• And the forest slowly became my home.

Growing up this way taught me something important: the jungle is not something to conquer, but something to live with.

Over the years, I developed my knowledge naturally — learning animal behavior, reading forest signs, understanding weather changes, and guiding safely through different terrains. What I know today comes not only from training, but from a lifetime shaped by the rainforest.

Today, I proudly continue my father’s path as a certified local jungle guide by HPI (Indonesian Tour Guide Association), combining traditional local knowledge passed down through generations with professional guiding standards recognized nationally.

When you trek with me, you are not walking with someone who learned the jungle from a book.

You are walking with someone who grew up inside it.

I guide with patience, respect, and responsibility — focusing on safety, ethical wildlife encounters, and authentic experiences far from mass tourism.

My mission is simple:
To protect the rainforest that raised me, to support the local community of Bukit Lawang, and to share a meaningful jungle experience with travellers from around the world.

For me, the forest is not a workplace.

It is my heritage.
